If you haven’t heard, there is a new parade in the magic kingdom. The festival of fantasy parade began this march to the delight of many. Afternoon parades have often been appointment viewing for many a wdw visitor, although it is actually not in our family’s window of touring in the parks.
With that in mind, we (and by we I am referring to my 5 year old son)have done or best to study up..to help anyone who will have the chance to see this new attraction.
The parade contains some of your favorite Disney characters, from Peter Pan to Ariel to Rapunzel…and of course, Mickey Mouse. Each group comes down Main Street on an incredibly active float. The theming and music to each is amazing.
The parade begins with Belle and the beast, sharing a float with Cinderella, Tiana, and our newest princesses: Anna and Elsa. Following them is crew from Tangled in a swinging version of the tavern in the movie. Next up is Ariel and her friends with sea creature dancers aplenty.
After that is a wonderful Peter Pan float, built around the Jolly Roger. Not to missed are Captain Hook, Smee, tinkerbell and the tic toc croc. Following is a beautifully themed Brave float with Scottish dancers.
Next is a mechanical Dragon version of Malificient…pay close attention to see Prince Philip battling the baddies.
Then come some of the classics: the Seven Dwarves, Pinocchio, and others on a giant monstro float.
As we get to the finale, we see Donald, daisy, Pluto, goofy, and finally Minnie and Mickey on a fantasy air ballon float.
All in all, seems to be a worthwhile use of anyone’s afternoon in the magic kingdom. Early reviews online are even referring to the festival of Fantasy as the best parade in years.
If you have had a chance to see it, please let us know your thoughts…til then we will be using the wonder of a small child to instill out impressions.
